Beyond Enforcement: Anti-Guns & Gangs Unit Symposium
I had the privilege of returning to the Toronto Police Service College to present at the Anti-Guns & Gangs Unit Symposium.
In my talk, I shared my lived experience of being trafficked, but I also focused on something we don’t talk about enough: the pathways that lead young people into becoming exploiters.
While it’s important to hear survivor voices, it’s equally important to understand why some youth become involved in exploitation. Many of them are navigating the same vulnerabilities, trauma, and systemic gaps that trafficking survivors face. If we want to truly prevent exploitation, we need to address both sides of this reality.
Thank you to SOLGEN and Toronto Police for the opportunity and for creating space for these important conversations. I’m incredibly grateful to continue this public speaking journey and contribute to trauma-informed, prevention-focused work.
